Letter Dd: Dogs

Dd is for DOGS...one of Marin's favorite animals!
She loves dogs. She will shout "ruff ruff" whenever she sees one. So we....

We read Dog's Colorful Day (cute story) and painted dots on our dog. 

She, of course, loved the painting. 

Just because she's cute. :o) 

I tried another go at "tactile cards". She liked this one a lot better and traced the letters and felt them
without having a fit to pull them off. (It's felt, foam, a sticker, and a wooden letter.)

Then we read Bark, George. Another cute story about a dog that  made other animal sounds instead of barking. The vet reached way in and pulled out all the other animals so that George could bark again. So....

Marin played doctor (which happens to start with Dd as well :o) and reached into George's "belly" and...

We used the cards first but then put chunky puzzle pieces in and "practiced" saying their names and animal sounds. 

Last but not least, we read one more dog story....Go Dogs Go! Then made a dog paper stained glass craft. I found it at Dollar Tree and wasn't sure if Marin would get it. But she LOVED it. She loved glueing tissue paper!

And Dd stands for  Daddy Daughter dancing! They had a donut date as well. :o)

Letter Dd: Dinosaurs!

So Day 1 of Dd week started with some Dinosaur play! 

We counted dinosaurs on our number mat. 

We stamped Dd with our letter magnets on the Magna Doodle. 

We read That's Not My Dinosaur for the billionth time in our life.
This is a favorite book at our house. 

We sang a dinosaur color song like Brown Bear Brown Bear.
"Blue Dinosaur Blue Dinosaur what do you see?
I see a Yellow Dinosaur sitting by the tree."
And so on....

Hollis LOVED it. :o) Especially because the color dinosaurs were laminated and she could chew on them. 

Then we made a little dinosaur sensory box with rocks, shells, dinosaurs, and some water.
We will add some sticks and leaves later. 

I had this all set up on her table for when she woke up from nap.
The squeal of excitement when she saw it was worth a million dollars.
A good Dollar Tree find. 

She was so happy to paint.
Right now, I am pretty sure black is her favorite color!?!?

Beautiful Dinosaurs!
